Privacy Policy
What happens to your images, and what this website collects.
The short version. Your images are never uploaded to us. The metadata remover runs entirely inside your browser, so your photo's data stays on your own device. We do not ask you to register and we do not build a profile of you.
1. Who we are
PrivacyMetaData ("we", "us") operates this website and the free browser-based metadata tools on it. If you have a question about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
2. Your images are not uploaded
This is the most important part of the policy. When you add a photo to the metadata remover, your browser reads the file directly from your device using the standard File API, inspects its metadata in memory, and rebuilds a clean copy using a canvas element.
At no point are your image bytes transmitted to our servers. We do not receive them, store them, queue them, log them or analyse them. Because the processing is local, we have no technical ability to see the pictures you clean. Closing or refreshing the tab discards everything.
The one exception is the optional "Paste image URL" feature. If you use it, your browser fetches that image directly from the third-party website you named. That request goes to their server, not ours, and is subject to their policies.
3. Information we do collect
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard technical information for every visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs exist for security and to keep the service running, and are retained only for a limited period.
Analytics
We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand aggregate usage: which pages are popular and which countries visitors come from. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.
No accounts
There is no sign-up on this site. We do not collect names, email addresses or payment details, because none of the tools require them.
4. Cookies and advertising
This site is funded by advertising, which allows the tools to remain free. We work with third-party advertising partners, which may include Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
- Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
Advertising partners act as independent data controllers for the data they collect. Please review their own privacy notices for details.
5. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Since we do not operate accounts and do not receive your images, the data we hold is generally limited to technical logs. Contact us and we will respond to any valid request.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops — for example when new tools are added. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
8. Related pages
This policy sits alongside two other documents: our terms of use, which cover acceptable use and liability, and our disclaimer, which explains what the tools can and cannot do. For background on why hidden file data matters, see our guide to metadata privacy and how to protect yourself.
